Finding Workouts That Match Your Equipment
CENTR makes it easy to find workouts based on what equipment you have available, whether that's a full gym, minimal home equipment, or no equipment at all.
Where to Find Equipment Filters
Step 1: Navigate to Explore
Tap the Explore tab in the bottom navigation bar of the CENTR app.
Step 2: Choose Coached or Self-Guided
Select either Coached Workouts or Self-Guided Workouts depending on your preferred training format.
Step 3: Apply Equipment Filter
Once you're in either Coached or Self-Guided workouts, you'll see filter options. Tap the Equipment filter to see your options:
- No Equipment (bodyweight only)
- Dumbbells
- Resistance Bands
- Barbell
- Bench
- Full Gym
- And more equipment options
Select the equipment you have available, and the app will show only workouts you can actually complete with your gear.
The My Equipment Feature
CENTR offers a smarter way to filter by equipment - the My Equipment profile.
What is My Equipment?
My Equipment is a profile feature that remembers what equipment you have available. Once you fill it out, the app creates shortcuts in Explore, automatically showing you workouts matched to your gear without having to apply filters every time.
Setting Up My Equipment
- When you first use the Explore section, you'll be prompted to fill out your equipment profile
- Select all the equipment you have regular access to
- Save your equipment profile
- The app will now prioritize showing you compatible workouts
Benefits of My Equipment
- Saves time: No need to manually filter every search
- Personalized browsing: Workouts shown first match what you can do
- Quick shortcuts: Fast access to equipment-appropriate workouts
- Flexible: Update anytime as your equipment collection changes
Combining Equipment Filters
You can select multiple equipment types if you have several options available. For example, if you have both dumbbells and resistance bands, select both to see all workouts you can do with either or both pieces of equipment.
No Equipment? No Problem
If you don't have any fitness equipment, simply select the "No Equipment" or bodyweight option. CENTR has a massive library of effective bodyweight workouts including:
- HIIT cardio sessions
- Bodyweight strength training
- Yoga and Pilates
- Boxing and shadowboxing
- Core and abs workouts
Household Item Substitutions
Don't have traditional fitness equipment? Many workouts can be adapted using household items:
- Water bottles or cans: Substitute for light dumbbells
- Backpack with books: Adds weight for resistance
- Towel: Can replace resistance bands for some exercises
- Sturdy chair: Used for step-ups, dips, and support
While the app filters by traditional equipment, trainers often suggest modifications for limited gear.
Updating Your Equipment
As you acquire new equipment or lose access to certain items:
- Return to your My Equipment settings
- Add or remove equipment from your profile
- The app will immediately adjust your workout recommendations
Equipment Filter Tips
- Be realistic: Only select equipment you consistently have access to
- Start simple: If you're new, begin with no-equipment or minimal equipment workouts
- Expand gradually: Add equipment to your profile as you acquire it
- Consider space: Select equipment that works for your available workout space
Beyond Equipment
Remember, equipment is just one filter. Combine it with:
- Duration filters (to match your available time)
- Workout type (Strength, HIIT, Yoga, etc.)
- Body focus (upper body, lower body, full body)
- Trainer preferences
