How do I switch programs?Updated 2 months ago
Complete Flexibility to Change Programs
CENTR gives you total freedom to switch programs whenever you want. There are no penalties, no locked-in commitments, and no restrictions on changing your training direction.
The Simple Answer
You can:
- Join any program at any time - Browse the Programs tab and start any new program whenever you choose
- Leave any program at any time - Exit programs that aren't working for you
- Have multiple programs active simultaneously - Run several programs at once if desired
Why You Might Switch Programs
Common reasons members switch programs:
- Goals changed: You're pivoting from fat loss to strength building
- Wrong difficulty: Current program is too easy or too challenging
- Not enjoying it: The training style isn't clicking with you
- Want variety: Ready to try something new after completing a program
- Equipment changes: You've gained or lost access to certain equipment
- Time constraints: Need shorter or longer workouts than current program
- Seasonal shift: Changing training focus for different times of year
- Injury recovery: Need to modify training approach
How to Switch Programs
Method 1: Just Join a New Program
The simplest approach:
- Go to the Programs tab
- Browse and find a new program
- Tap to join the new program
- The new program will appear in your My Plan alongside any existing programs
You don't need to formally "leave" your old program first - just join the new one.
Method 2: Leave Then Join
If you prefer a clean slate:
- Leave your current program (find the option within the program details or My Plan)
- Browse the Programs tab for a new program
- Join the new program
- Start fresh with just the new program in My Plan
What Happens to Your Progress?
Completed Workouts Stay Saved
When you leave or switch programs:
- Your workout history remains intact
- Completed workouts stay in your Activity history
- Strength gains logged in your Logbook are preserved
- You don't lose any data or progress
Program Position is Not Saved
If you leave a program and rejoin it later, you'll start back at the beginning (Day 1). Programs don't bookmark your position. This is intentional - it ensures you follow the proper progression when you return.
Running Multiple Programs Simultaneously
CENTR allows you to be enrolled in multiple programs at the same time. This means you can:
- Follow a strength program and a yoga program together
- Do one program during weekdays, another on weekends
- Try multiple programs to see which you prefer
- Combine different training focuses
Managing Multiple Programs
If you have multiple active programs:
- All program workouts appear in My Plan
- You choose which program workout to do each day
- You can alternate between programs or focus on one primarily
- Leave any program whenever it no longer serves you
Making the Switch Decision
When to Stick With It
Consider staying with your current program if:
- You've only done 1-2 weeks (give it more time)
- The program is appropriately challenging, just tough some days
- You're seeing early positive results
- The difficulty is manageable with modifications
When to Switch
Consider changing programs if:
- You've given it a fair try (2-3 weeks minimum)
- It's consistently too easy or too hard despite your best effort
- You dread the workouts rather than feeling motivated
- Your goals or circumstances have significantly changed
- You've completed the program and want something new
Exploring vs. Commitment
There's a balance between:
- Exploration: Trying different programs to find what works
- Commitment: Sticking with a program long enough to see results
Give each program at least 2-3 weeks before deciding to switch. Real results come from consistency, and it takes time to adapt to a new training style.
Alternative to Switching: Modify Your Approach
Before completely switching programs, consider:
- Swapping individual workouts: Replace specific program workouts you don't enjoy while keeping the program structure
- Adding rest days: Take extra recovery if the program feels too intense
- Using modifications: Scale exercises up or down as needed
- Adjusting frequency: Do program workouts less often than scheduled
Sometimes tweaking your current program is better than starting over.
No Judgment, Just Progress
Switching programs is normal and encouraged if it helps you stay consistent. CENTR wants you to find training you enjoy and stick with it long-term. Don't feel guilty about trying different approaches - that's how you discover what works for your body and lifestyle.
