- Tap the cog icon to open your settings
- Find the Fitness Level setting
- Select your current fitness level from the available options
- Save your changes
Once you've updated your fitness level, the app will immediately adjust your Daily Workout recommendations to match.
Understanding Fitness Level Settings
When choosing your fitness level, be honest about your current abilities. The goal is to challenge yourself appropriately, not to select the most advanced option if you're not ready for it.
Consider These Factors
- Recent training history: How consistently have you been exercising?
- Exercise experience: Are you familiar with proper form and technique?
- Injury status: Any current limitations or recovery needs?
- Energy levels: How do you feel during and after current workouts?
- Recovery ability: How quickly do you bounce back from training?
How Fitness Level Affects Your Experience
Daily Workouts
Your fitness level primarily affects the Daily Workouts that appear on your Home tab. These personalized recommendations are automatically matched to your level, providing workouts that challenge you appropriately without overwhelming you.
Program Recommendations
The app may also suggest programs suited to your fitness level, though you can browse and join any program you'd like regardless of your selected level.
Workout Variety
Changing your fitness level doesn't restrict what you can access - you can still browse and do any workout in the Explore library. It simply adjusts which workouts are recommended to you automatically.
Also Consider Updating Your Goal
While adjusting your fitness level, also consider reviewing your Goal setting in the same menu. Your goal (such as build strength, lose weight, improve endurance, or general fitness) works alongside your fitness level to personalize recommendations.
Fitness Level + Goal = Personalization
These two settings work together:
- Beginner + Build Strength: Foundation strength workouts with technique focus
- Intermediate + Lose Weight: Moderate intensity HIIT and metabolic conditioning
- Advanced + General Fitness: Varied, challenging workouts across all types
When to Update Your Fitness Level
Your fitness level isn't set in stone - update it when:
- You've been consistent: After 4-6 weeks of regular training, consider moving up
- Workouts feel too easy: If you're barely challenged, increase your level
- You're struggling consistently: If workouts feel impossible, decrease your level
- After a break: Coming back from time off? Temporarily lower your level
- Recovering from injury: Adjust down while rebuilding strength
- You've achieved a goal: Hit a milestone? Challenge yourself with the next level
Fitness Levels Are Not About Ego
There's no prize for selecting a higher fitness level than you're ready for. In fact, choosing an inappropriate level can:
- Lead to injury from attempting exercises beyond your current ability
- Cause frustration and burnout
- Make it harder to maintain consistency
- Compromise your form and technique
- Slow your actual progress
Train at YOUR level, not someone else's. Progress comes from consistent, appropriate challenge over time.
Progression is Built In
CENTR programs and workouts are designed with progression in mind. Even at the same fitness level setting, programs will gradually increase in difficulty. Trust the process and focus on consistent effort rather than constantly changing your level setting.
Beyond Automatic Recommendations
Remember, your fitness level setting affects your Daily Workouts and recommendations, but you always have access to:
- All workouts in Explore: Browse and choose any workout regardless of level
- All programs: Join programs at any level
- Workout modifications: Most workouts show easier or harder variations
- Self-paced training: Self-Guided workouts let you control intensity
