How do I customize my workout plan?Updated 2 months ago
Multiple Ways to Customize Your Training
CENTR gives you complete flexibility to customize your workout experience. Whether you prefer structured programs or freeform exploration, you're in control of your training plan.
Three Main Ways to Train
1. Follow Programs (Most Popular - 75% of Members)
Programs provide structured workout schedules:
- Navigate to the Programs tab
- Join any program that matches your goals
- Follow the pre-planned workout sequence
- Enjoy built-in progression and variety
This is the most popular approach because it removes decision fatigue while ensuring proper workout progression.
2. Use Daily Workouts (Personalized)
Daily Workouts appear on your Home tab:
- Automatically matched to your fitness level and goals
- Changes daily based on your profile
- Quick and easy - just tap and start
- No browsing or choosing required
Perfect for members who want personalization without committing to a full program.
3. Browse Explore (Maximum Flexibility)
The Explore tab gives you access to the full library:
- Search and filter to find exactly what you want
- Choose based on current mood, time, or equipment
- Mix and match workout types freely
- Create your own workout sequence
Best for experienced members who know what they want and enjoy variety.
My Plan: Your Customizable Schedule
My Plan (located on the Home tab) is where all your workouts come together:
- Shows workouts from any programs you've joined
- Displays your Daily Workouts
- Allows easy workout swapping
- Provides a clear view of your training schedule
How to Swap Workouts in My Plan
One of the most useful customization features is the ability to swap workouts:
- Go to My Plan on the Home tab
- Find the workout you want to change
- Tap the swap button on the workout
- Browse alternative workouts from Explore
- Select your replacement workout
- The new workout appears in your plan
This feature lets you keep program structure while adjusting individual workouts to fit your needs.
Why Swap Workouts?
Common reasons to swap:
- Equipment mismatch: Scheduled workout requires equipment you don't have
- Time constraints: Need a shorter or longer workout than scheduled
- Energy levels: Want something less or more intense
- Preference: Simply prefer a different workout style that day
- Injury management: Need to avoid certain movements
- Variety: Want to try something different while staying in the program
Mixing Training Approaches
Many successful members combine all three approaches:
- Primary program (weekdays) + Explore workouts (weekends)
- Follow program mostly, swap occasional workouts when needed
- Program for strength + Daily Workouts for cardio
- Multiple programs + standalone Explore sessions
There's no single "right" way - use what keeps you motivated and consistent.
Customizing Beyond Workout Selection
Adjust Your Profile Settings
From the Home tab, tap the cog icon (top right) to customize:
- Fitness Level: Changes Daily Workout difficulty and recommendations
- Goals: Influences workout suggestions (strength, weight loss, etc.)
- My Equipment: Shows workouts matching your available gear
Modify Exercises During Workouts
Within any workout, you can:
- Skip exercises that don't work for you
- Use modifications shown by trainers
- Adjust weights and reps (especially in Self-Guided workouts)
- Take extra rest when needed
- Pause and resume at your own pace
Building Your Own Routine
For advanced customization, create your own weekly structure:
- Monday: Heavy strength (from a program)
- Tuesday: HIIT cardio (from Explore)
- Wednesday: Rest or yoga
- Thursday: Upper body strength (from program)
- Friday: Lower body or full body (your choice)
- Weekend: Active recovery, long workout, or rest
Use programs for structure, Explore for variety, and Daily Workouts when you want guidance.
Rest Days and Recovery
Customize your recovery approach:
- Take rest days whenever your body needs them
- Do active recovery (yoga, walking) instead of complete rest
- Follow program rest days or create your own schedule
- Listen to your body - never feel locked into a rigid plan
Customization Tips for Success
- Start with structure: If new, begin with a program before experimenting with full customization
- Track what works: Pay attention to which combinations keep you consistent
- Be realistic: Customize based on your actual schedule, not your ideal one
- Stay flexible: Your plan should adapt to your life, not control it
- Simplify if overwhelmed: Too many options can be paralyzing - go back to just following a program
The 75% Rule
Approximately 75% of CENTR members primarily follow programs. This isn't coincidence - programs work because they:
- Remove daily decision-making
- Ensure proper progression
- Provide proven workout sequences
- Keep you accountable to a structure
- Deliver consistent results
Even if you love customization, consider making a program your foundation and customizing around the edges.
