Can I recover a deleted account?Updated 2 months ago

Important: Deletion Is Permanent

Once your CENTR account is deleted, it cannot be recovered. Account deletion is a permanent, irreversible action. Your data is permanently removed from CENTR systems and cannot be restored.

Why Account Recovery Is Not Possible

Data Protection Laws (GDPR & CCPA)

When you request account deletion:

  • CENTR is legally required to permanently delete your personal data
  • Under GDPR Article 17 ("Right to be Forgotten") and CCPA §1798.105, deleted data must be irreversibly removed
  • This includes removing data from active systems, backups, and logs
  • Keeping deleted data accessible would violate data protection regulations

Security and Privacy

  • True deletion means your data is gone forever - this is what protects your privacy
  • Half-deleted accounts that could be "recovered" would compromise data protection
  • The 30-day processing window allows for final removal from all systems including backups
  • After processing is complete, recovery is technically impossible

The 30-Day Deletion Process

What Happens During the 30 Days

When you request account deletion:

  1. Day 1: You contact support requesting deletion
  2. Day 1: Support confirms your request and begins the process
  3. Days 1-30: Your data is progressively removed from CENTR systems:
    • Account is flagged for deletion
    • Access is disabled
    • Data is removed from active databases
    • Backups are purged
    • Logs are cleaned
  4. Day 30 (or sooner): Deletion is complete and confirmed
  5. After Day 30: All personal data is gone - recovery is impossible

Can I Stop Deletion During the 30 Days?

Maybe, but only if you contact support immediately.

  • Contact [email protected] as soon as possible (within days of requesting deletion)
  • Request to cancel the deletion
  • If the deletion process hasn't been completed yet, support may be able to stop it
  • However, there's no guarantee - it depends on how far the deletion has progressed
  • Do not wait - the sooner you contact support, the better chance of stopping deletion

Once deletion is complete (usually 30 days), it cannot be reversed under any circumstances.

What Gets Permanently Deleted

When your account is deleted, you lose:

Account Access

  • You can no longer log into CENTR app or website
  • Your email and password combination no longer works
  • Social login (Apple/Google) no longer accesses your account

Personal Data

  • Name, email address, profile information
  • Account preferences and settings
  • Saved payment methods

Workout and Fitness Data

  • All workout history - permanently gone
  • Logged weights and reps - cannot be recovered
  • Personal records and achievements - deleted forever
  • Progress photos and measurements - removed
  • Program progress - erased
  • Saved and favorited workouts - gone

Meal and Recipe Data

  • Saved recipes and favorites
  • Meal plan customizations
  • Shopping lists
  • Dietary preferences

Some data must be retained for legal and financial reasons:

  • Purchase transaction records (retained for 7 years for tax compliance)
  • Subscription billing history (required for accounting and auditing)
  • Anonymized usage analytics (data with no personal identifiers)

This retained data cannot be linked back to you personally and is kept for legal compliance only.

What to Do Instead of Deletion

If you're considering account deletion but might want to return to CENTR in the future, consider these alternatives:

Option 1: Cancel Your Subscription Instead

  • Keeps your account and data but stops billing
  • Reversible - you can reactivate your subscription anytime
  • Retains all workout history, progress, and achievements
  • No data loss - everything is waiting when you return

Option 2: Export Your Data First

If you definitely want to delete your account but want to keep a copy of your data:

  1. Request data export BEFORE requesting deletion
  2. Contact [email protected] with "Data Export Request" or "GDPR Data Portability Request"
  3. Support will send you a download link with all your personal data
  4. Download and save the files to your device or cloud storage
  5. Then request account deletion if desired

Important: Request data export separately before deletion - it's not done automatically.

Option 3: Take a Break Without Deleting

  • Cancel your subscription to stop billing
  • Keep your account intact
  • Take a break for months or years
  • Return anytime and reactivate - all your data will still be there

If You've Already Deleted Your Account

Starting Fresh with a New Account

If your account has been deleted and you want to return to CENTR:

  • You can create a new account from scratch
  • You can reuse the same email address (after deletion is complete)
  • However, your new account will have no previous data:
    • No workout history
    • No progress or achievements
    • No saved workouts or favorites
    • You start completely fresh

Timeline for Email Reuse

  • After deletion is complete (30 days), your email address is freed
  • You can then create a new CENTR account with the same email
  • During the 30-day processing period, the email cannot be reused

Common Questions

Q: What if I deleted by accident?

A: Contact support at [email protected] IMMEDIATELY. If deletion hasn't been completed yet (within first few days), they may be able to stop it. But there's no guarantee - act fast.

Q: Can support restore my old workout data?

A: No. Once deletion is complete, the data is permanently gone and cannot be retrieved or restored by anyone, including CENTR support staff.

Q: What if I have a subscription dispute?

A: Deletion doesn't resolve billing disputes. Contact support about billing issues separately. Don't delete your account as a way to stop charges - cancel your subscription instead.

Q: Can I recover just some of my data?

A: No. Once account deletion is complete, all personal data is removed. There's no partial recovery option.

Q: What if I change my mind after 15 days?

A: Contact support immediately, but chances of recovery decrease every day. After 30 days, recovery is impossible.

Before You Delete

Ask yourself these questions before requesting account deletion:

  • Do I want to cancel my subscription instead (keeps data, stops billing)?
  • Do I want a data export to keep my workout history?
  • Am I sure I'll never want this data back?
  • Have I resolved any billing or support issues first?
  • Is deleting my account really what I want, or do I just want to take a break?

Remember: Account deletion is permanent. Subscription cancellation is reversible. Choose wisely.
