Video quality is poorUpdated 2 months ago
Quick Fix
Check your internet speed at fast.com. Poor video quality is usually caused by slow internet connection. You need at least 10 Mbps for high-quality video streaming.
Internet Speed Requirements
- Low quality (480p): 3 Mbps minimum
- Standard quality (720p): 5 Mbps minimum
- High quality (1080p): 10 Mbps minimum
If your speed test shows less than the quality you want, follow the solutions below.
Improve Your Connection
Solution 1: Switch to WiFi
WiFi typically provides faster and more stable speeds than mobile data.
- Connect to a WiFi network
- Move close to your WiFi router (within 20-30 feet)
- Remove obstacles between you and the router
- Run another speed test to confirm improvement
- Try playing the video again
Solution 2: Restart Your WiFi Router
Resetting your router can improve connection speed.
- Unplug your WiFi router from power
- Wait 30 seconds
- Plug it back in
- Wait 2 minutes for it to fully restart
- Reconnect your device to WiFi
- Test your speed and try the video again
Solution 3: Close Other Apps and Devices
Other devices and apps can use bandwidth and reduce video quality.
- Close all other apps on your device
- Stop any downloads or updates
- Pause streaming on other devices (TVs, computers, tablets)
- Disconnect unused devices from your WiFi network
- Try the video again
Check Video Quality Settings
Note: Quality settings location may vary by app version. Some versions play at automatic quality based on your internet speed.
If you can access quality settings in the app, try these steps:
- While playing a video, look for a settings or gear icon
- Tap on it to access video settings
- Look for "Quality" or "Video Quality" option
- Select a higher quality (e.g., "High" or "1080p")
- Close settings and continue watching
If you don't see quality settings, the app automatically adjusts quality based on your internet speed. Improve your connection for better quality.
Download for Offline Viewing
Downloaded videos play at the highest quality without buffering.
Requirements:
- Connected to WiFi (downloads use significant data)
- Enough storage space on your device (videos can be 100-500MB each)
- Active CENTR subscription
Note: Download feature availability may vary. Look for a download icon when viewing workout details.
Additional Troubleshooting
Update the App
Newer versions may have improved video streaming.
iPhone:
- Open App Store
- Tap your profile icon
- Update CENTR if available
Android:
- Open Google Play Store
- Tap your profile icon > "Manage apps & device"
- Update CENTR if available
Restart the App
iPhone:
- Swipe up from the bottom
- Swipe CENTR app away to close
- Reopen and try video again
Android:
- Settings > Apps > CENTR > Force Stop
- Reopen and try video again
Why Video Quality Might Be Poor
- Slow internet: Under 10 Mbps limits quality to standard or low
- Weak WiFi signal: Distance from router reduces speed
- Network congestion: Too many devices using your connection
- Mobile data throttling: Carrier may limit video quality on cellular
- Automatic quality adjustment: App reduces quality to prevent buffering
