Known Issue: v8.0 Android Logout Bug
This is a confirmed bug affecting Android users on app version 8.0. Our development team is actively working on a fix that will be included in the next Android app update.
We apologize for the inconvenience. Below are temporary workarounds you can use until the update is released.
What's Happening
Android users on version 8.0 are experiencing:
- Being logged out every time you open the app
- Having to sign in repeatedly (sometimes multiple times per day)
- Login taking 5+ minutes to complete
- Difficulty starting workouts due to constant re-login
This issue started appearing after the October 2025 app update to version 8.0 on Android.
Temporary Workarounds
Workaround 1: Use centr.com Instead
The most reliable solution until the fix is released:
- Open a web browser on your Android device (Chrome, Firefox, etc.)
- Go to centr.com
- Log in to your account
- Use CENTR through the web browser instead of the app
Benefits:
- You stay logged in reliably
- All features work the same as the app
- Your progress syncs normally
- No re-login required
You can also add centr.com to your home screen for quick access:
- In Chrome, tap the menu (three dots)
- Select "Add to Home screen"
- Tap "Add"
- The CENTR icon will appear on your home screen like an app
Workaround 2: Keep the App Open in Background
If you need to use the app, keep it running in the background:
- After logging in, press your Home button (don't close the app)
- The app stays in memory in the background
- When you return to the app, you should still be logged in
- Don't swipe the app away from your recent apps list
Note: This workaround is temporary and may not work 100% of the time. Your device may close the app automatically if it needs memory.
Workaround 3: Enable Battery Optimization Exceptions
Prevent Android from closing the CENTR app:
- Go to Settings on your Android device
- Tap "Apps" or "Applications"
- Find and tap "CENTR"
- Tap "Battery" or "Battery Usage"
- Select "Unrestricted" or "Don't Optimize"
- This keeps the app active in the background
Note: This may increase battery usage slightly.
Check for the Update
The fix will be released in a future Android app update. Check regularly for updates:
- Open the Google Play Store
- Tap your profile icon in the top right
- Select "Manage apps & device"
- Look for CENTR under "Updates available"
- If an update shows, tap "Update"
- After updating, the logout issue should be resolved
Update Status: A fix for this bug is confirmed for the next Android release. We don't have an exact date, but updates typically release within 2-4 weeks of announcement.
What We've Tried (and Why They Don't Work)
You may have already tried these standard troubleshooting steps. These unfortunately do NOT fix the v8.0 logout bug:
- Deleting and reinstalling the app: The bug is in version 8.0 itself, so reinstalling gives you the same version
- Clearing app cache: Doesn't address the underlying login configuration bug
- Restarting your device: Provides only temporary relief
- Changing password: The issue is not with your credentials
These steps are good general troubleshooting, but the v8.0 bug requires a code fix from our development team.
Why This Happened
The CENTR 8.0 update included a major system upgrade to improve login security and overall performance. During this transition, a bug was introduced that affects how Android devices maintain your login session. This is not an issue with your account or device - it's a code issue that we're fixing.
What About iOS Users?
This bug specifically affects Android version 8.0. If you're on iOS (iPhone/iPad), you should not experience this constant logout issue. If you do experience frequent logouts on iOS, that's a different issue - contact support at [email protected].
Your Data Is Safe
While frustrating, this logout bug does NOT affect:
- ✅ Your workout history and progress
- ✅ Your subscription status
- ✅ Your saved favorites and programs
- ✅ Your account data and preferences
Everything is safely stored in the cloud and will be there when you log back in or when the update fixes the issue.
Still Having Issues After the Update?
Once you've updated to the version with the fix and are still experiencing logouts:
- Verify your app version is newer than 8.0: Check in Settings or About section in the app
- Delete the app completely
- Restart your Android device
- Reinstall the latest version from Google Play Store
- Log in again
